Perfume Arts: Substance Over Style

Are celebrity endorsed perfume brands better than organic and synthetic perfumes? Walking into the local department store will have you literally bombarded with individuals wishing to test a fragrance on your wrist.

Many of them have no real clue what is in them but they are sure to tell you just who is endorsing them. As a consumer, you should know a little more about the cosmetics you are applying to your body before you put them on. And, you should realize the quality of the product far more so than the name on the label.

Celebrity Perfume: Worth It?

Celebrity perfume is one of the top selling types of perfume. From Celine Dion's to Jennifer Lopez's, each celebrity these days is putting their name on a bottle of the stuff. But, don't think that they really have much to do with actually coming up with the fragrance themselves.

In the best case scenario, they may smell several options and then choose the one that fits their tastes the best (and that doesn't mean they will wear it all the time either) In fact, Glow, the fragrance that JLo herself has chosen along with several other in the family bring in about $100 million a year, which gives her a cut anywhere between five and ten percent of it.

Organics Instead?

While it is stylish to wear celebrity perfume, it isn't necessarily the best way to get the smell that you will love. Instead, consider the fragrances of natural products such as lavender and vanilla. The organic products are more of a natural smell, one which is lighter and often more powerful that what you would get through a bottle of perfume.

It is also safer to wear if you have reactions to this type of cosmetic. Yet, they definitely are not going to be stylish without a name brand on them.

What are you to do to select the perfume that is just the right option for you? It is wise to take just a few steps like these.

Get Sampled. Get some samples from either the perfume counter or through requesting them online. Take your time smelling them and leave them near you for several minutes to make sure you can handle it. If you are able to, make sure to do this with several perfumes so that you can really tell the difference.

Find Out What's Inside. It is also important for you to know what is in the product. If you are like many, you will want to stick with a more organic product simply because it is the most natural.

Price And Love. It is important for you to really love the perfume that you choose. You'll definitely get sticker shock from the celebrity perfumes out there. But, if it is just the one for you, then by all means buy it up. But, don't go for the celebrity versions if they are in fact bad smelling to you. After all, you are the one that will need to smell it day and night.

The History of Perfume

The history of perfume goes back to Egypt, although it was prevalent in East Asia as well. Early perfumes were based on incense, not chemicals, so aromas were passed around through fumes. The Roman and Islamic cultures further refined the harvesting and manufacturing of perfumery processes to include other aromatic ingredients. Thus, the ancient Islamic culture marked the history of modern perfumery with the introduction of spices and herbs. Fragrances and other exotic substances, such as Jasmine and Citruses, were adapted to be harvested in climates outside of their indigenous Asia.

The extraction of fragrances was perfected through steam distillation. In turn, the Islamic cultural production of fragrances and distillation technology inspired the scientific communities of western culture during the fourteenth century, especially in France, which brought further cultivation of these raw materials and introduced chemical-based perfume.
- www.BigDiscount.comGenuine Fragrances at Huge Discounts. 100% Genuine - Free Sample

Modern innovation in the history of perfume can be credited to the West, but the cultural conceptualization still belonged to Islam: "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male Muslim who has attained the age of puberty… [and then] the using of perfume if it is available." (a claim made by The Prophet Mohammed, which is also recorded in Sahih Bukhari).

The use of spiced and fragranced perfume during the Renaissance was exclusive to the royalty and wealthy for the purpose of covering body odors related to their sanitary habits. Thus, perfumery as an industry was established in the West. This is where the history of perfume denotes the association of perfume with the upper-class.

It wasn't until the eighteenth century that the Grasse region of France harvested aromatic plants to accommodate the growing demand for fragranced and spiced perfumes. Perfumery flourished! The world history of perfume came to a head. France is still the perfume center of modern-day Europe, which trades with the United States.

The latter, however, has established its own perfume industry and trades with the rest of the world. Perfumery is now a world conglomeration and serves as a major division of the world fashion industry. The history of perfume is now globally involved.

Perfumes have come a long way and are going strong. New popular brands have emerged such as BCBG perfume product line. More information can be found at http://www.perfumearts.com/

Perfume Your Garden and Home with Gardenias

One of my favorite plants is the large white-flowered Mystery Gardenia (gardenia jasminoides) that grows to about 5' tall and wide. The perfume-like scent adds an exotic feeling to gardens. Plus, the large white flowers show up well in moonlight when many people more likely get a chance to take pleasure in their garden. If you want to enjoy gardenias, plant them where they get sun. Most people plant gardenias in the shade because these plants love the same soil as shade-loving camellias and azaleas. However, gardenias can take full sun and prefer at least half a day of sunlight. Gardenias will not bloom well in the shade.

Don't over water your gardenias. Keep the soil surface moist, but not soggy. Don't let them dry out too much during flowering or they will drop their buds. To keep your plants from drying out, mulch well.
Cosmetíque Fragrances Free Shipping in Nov. on orders $40 and over

Gardenias also like rich organic soil, azalea/camellia fertilizer, and iron. If your gardenias get yellow leaves, they most likely need more iron. During the growing season, feed your gardenias every three weeks.

Don't get harsh when pruning gardenias. They need some leaves left on the stock so they can get nutrition. Prune after blooming but before fall so the plant gets a chance to grow and form new flowers for the next spring bloom.

Gardenias bloom from late spring well into summer. Besides the glorious creamy-white blooms, they give your garden a gorgeous deep green backdrop all year long.

Plant gardenias near your entry door to welcome guests and yourself with the invigorating perfume-like scent. Just one or two flowers floating in a bowl of water fills your home with natural fragrance. With over 200 species of gardenias, you're sure to find just the perfect variety at your local nursery for your garden.

EDT, EDP, EDC? The Various Types Cologne And Perfume

Not all cologne and perfume is made equally. In fact there are four different concentrations of perfume, each one being very different from the other.

In this article I am going to discuss the four different variations of cologne as well as what each concentration may be used for. Did you know that most cologne's and perfumes are comprised mainly of alcohol? In fact, most of the fragrances that you see in any shop will only be comprised of 4-10% of actual scented compounds. Of course this varies depending on the perfume that you look at. The rest of the 86-90% of the bottle is made up of alcohol and water.
Women's PerfumeShop & compare prices. Get rebates for shopping on Shop & compare prices. Get rebates for shopping on Jellyfish.com

Some fragrances actually have a lower concentration of scented compounds, and some have more. This is where the commonly used EDP, EDT, and EDC come into play. Let's take a look at what these mean.

Perfume - Also known as Perfume extract, ‘Perfume' is the most concentrated and smoothest of the four types. Typically made up of a 20-40% concentration of scented compounds, perfume is definitely the most expensive to buy.
- www.BigDiscount.comGenuine Fragrances at Huge Discounts. 100% Genuine - Free Sample

Eau de Parfum - EDP is typically made up of an 8-16% concentration of scented compounds. EDP is probably the most common type of concentration you will see at the store. An EDP scent will usually fade after four hours, but the base notes can linger for a 24 hour period. Fragrances with an EDP concentration are perfect if you need an all day scent
- www.scentiments.comSave Up To 90%. Designer Brands. No Gimmicks, Just Great Deals.

Eau de Toilette - EDT is another very common concentration found in many fragrances. EDT is typically made up of a 4-8% concentration of scented compounds. Some people find that some EDT perfumes last a long while, but generally these are better left for night time use where the scent isn't needed for as long.

Eau de Cologne - EDC isn't commonly found in any fragrances anymore. It doesn't last that long, and is typically only made with a 2-4% concentration of scented compounds.

The Art Of Perfume Notes - What Are They?

When people hear the word ‘notes' they often say "yeah those are the things that make up a song." Sure this is true, but did you know that notes are also used to describe the various scents of a fragrance? Most people aren't even aware that there is more than one aroma involved in perfume or mens cologne. In this article we will take an in depth look at what levels of notes occur in a fragrance, as well as what is involved in each level.

As I mentioned above, there are actually different scents within a bottle of perfume. That's right, when you purchase your dream bottle of cologne at the local store, it isn't going to always smell the same. When you wear it, the scent will actually change throughout the day. Evaporation causes different ‘notes' to come out during this period.
Women's PerfumeShop & compare prices. Get rebates for shopping on Shop & compare prices. Get rebates for shopping on Jellyfish.com

So what exactly are these notes? Let's take a look.

Top Notes - This is the first scent you smell when sniffing a particular fragrance. Because this is the first scent a person smells, the manufacturer knows that the top notes are very important for a good first impression. The top notes are usually described as fresh or strong. These notes generally last a matter of minutes (10-30) due to them evaporating quickly.
- www.BigDiscount.comGenuine Fragrances at Huge Discounts. 100% Genuine - Free Sample

Middle Notes - Also sometimes referred to as ‘heart notes', these scents are generally much less ‘dramatic' than top notes. Middle notes last longer than top notes and usually appear 10-45 minutes after applying the perfume.
Buy Perfume & Cologne Designer Fragrances at Great Prices.

Base Notes - This is the finale of every good cologne. The ingredients used here hold everything together. Musk is a common ingredient that is used as a base note.

Now that you are "in the know", next time you go to buy that special cologne, you may be able to give the clueless sales representative a crash course in fragrance study!

Differences Between Perfume And Perfume Oils

The history of perfume oils dates back to ancient Egypt when these fine scented oils were presented to royalty as gifts. In modern times, however, when the word "perfume" is said, most people think of department store fragrances, which consist mainly of the concentrated oil and alcohol solution. Nevertheless, as more and more people are finding out about them, perfume oils are experiencing great popularity. Here are some interesting facts about perfume oils: 1) Strength of smell - Perfume oils are highly concentrated and up to ten times more concentrated than department store perfumes. This quality allows oils to last longer than their eau de perfume counterparts.

2) Alcohol - Perfumes have alcohol in them, which creates different smell effects. Most body oils use carrier oils like jojoba or grapeseed oil in place of alcohol. In some fragrances, the smell can change as the alcohol evaporates different scent notes through time. With oils, the scent is more constant.
- www.scentiments.comSave Up To 90%. Designer Brands. No Gimmicks, Just Great Deals.

3) Price - A noticeable difference between perfumes and perfume oils is price. Perfumes have a very high markup and great profit margins, which is perhaps why many celebrities have embarked on the trend of creating their own perfumes and colognes. Perfume oils can be sold very cheaply, or even more expensively than the perfumes, depending on how they are positioned in the market.
Perfume Free Shipping over $75, Free Gift Packaging & Free Samples at Sephora

4) Body chemistry - Just because a perfume or cologne smells good on you, doesn't mean that the oil version will. Perfumes only have a small percentage of oil, so they are quite different than pure body oils. This interaction between the fragrance and your body may produce a different scent perception altogether.
Cosmetíque Fragrances Free Shipping in Nov. on orders $40 and over

5) Packaging - Clearly, department store perfumes are very nicely packaged and thus make great gifts for friends and family. Many perfume oils are sold in less attractive containers, which is part of the reason for their lower price.

6) Uses - Perfumes are only intended for use on the body, but perfume oils can be used to create a variety of scented products, like soap, candles, bath oils, air fresheners, and many other types of scented products. Be aware that there are different types of fragrance oils and that pure uncut oils are not safe for use on the skin.

In summary, whether you choose to use perfume oils or not will depend on the factors above. Try out a small sample first and who knows, you might just discover a delightful new product to add to your personal inventory.

Perfume - What's The Big Stink About?

Ah, perfume. You have to sometimes wonder what women do without it. It seems they can't help but spritzing that smelly stuff all over their bodies. Not that men mind very much. Let's face it, a man LOVES a woman who smells nice, but who determines exactly WHAT a nice smell is? One of these days somebody is going to invent a perfume that smells like, well, you know. So what's the deal with perfume? Why so mesmerizing to the opposite sex? And what in the world is the stuff made from anyway? For all we know it could be made from chicken gizzards.

Fortunately, it's not. Perfume is made from about 78% to 95% of specially denatured ethyl alcohol and a remainder of essential oils. The perfumes that are made up of the 22% oils are the most expensive, going for as much as $100 an ounce or more. I'm sure a little too rich for most people's blood. These perfumes are called perfume, literally. The next costliest on the ladder are the ones called Eau de Parfum, which are made up of between 15 and 22% oils. After that comes Eau de Toilette, which is made up of between 8 and 15% oils. Next on the totem pole is Eau de Cologne, which is made up of about 4% oils. And finally the bottom of the barrel, for those who really like subtlety, is Eau Fraiche, which is made up of about 1 to 3% oils.

Then of course there are fragrance categories, a TON of them.

Here is a listing.

Floral, Oriental, Floriental, Chypre, Green Marine and Fruit. Typical plant products include anise, bay leaf, bergamot, cardamom, cedar wood, eucalyptus, frankincense, gardenia, geranium, iris, jasmine, lavender, lemon, lilac, lily, lily of the valley, magnolia, moss, neroli, orange, orris, patchouli, pine, raspberry, rose, sage, sandalwood, tuberose, vanilla, violet and ylang-ylang.

I wonder how many guys can really tell the difference between one and another. It probably doesn't matter since perfumes are a 10 billion dollar a year industry. Not bad for smelly water.

So when did perfume use start? Actually it started thousands of years ago in Greek and Roman civilizations. It wasn't a big commercial industry back then. The first real commercial use of perfume didn't start until the early 20th century. One of the earliest famous perfumes that is still made today Chanel No. 5 created by Ernest Beaux for Coco Chanel in 1921. It is essentially made from ylang-ylang and neroli, with a heart of blends of jasmine and rose all above a woody base of sandalwood and vetiver. How much of each is a secret and something that any perfume manufacturer would give anything to get a hold of. Perfume manufacturing is extremely competitive and formulas are carefully guarded secrets. But getting back to Chanel No. 5, today a bottle of this stuff is sold every 30 seconds. You can only imagine what that comes out to in income for a whole year.

Today there are many perfumes, the most popular being Chanel No. 5, Charlie, Chantilly, Elizabeth W. Magnolia, which is actually the most popular perfume for women today, and the list goes on and on. There are new perfumes coming out everyday to keep up with the demand for the next great smelling toilet water.

Selecting the Right Perfume

If you have decided to purchase perfume for yourself or for someone else as a gift, you will find that it may be difficult to decide which perfume to choose. With so many different varieties of perfumes on the market, just how are you supposed to select the right one? Below, you will find the answer. First, if cost is a big consideration when you are purchasing perfume, then you may want to predetermine how much you are going to spend before you start shopping. Some brands can be pretty pricey and if you are on a budget, you will want to remain within the confines of your spending limit.
Find perfume Huge After Christmas Perfume Sale! Free Shipping & Samples. Shop Now.

Next, you will need to determine if you want to purchase a perfume that has a light or a heavy scent. If you are buying for yourself, this task is far easier than if you are purchasing perfume for someone else. Therefore, finding out in advance what perfume a person prefers is your best option. For instance, if your friend likes wearing musk, then look for musk when you are purchasing perfume and if your friend or loved one likes earthy scents, then look for an earthy scent when you shop.
Buy Perfume & Cologne Designer Fragrances at Great Prices.

Next, there is actually a trick to smelling perfume. Have you ever noticed that when you smell perfume from the bottle and then you smell it on your wrist it does not ever smell the same? That's because perfumes react with your body chemicals. So, you will want to purchase a perfume that is not only pleasing to the nose when you open the bottle, but one that is pleasing when it reacts to skin contact. Also, once you have applied the perfume to your wrist, wait a few seconds as the strong odor will dissipate and will leave you with the scent that the perfume is meant to provide.
- www.scentiments.comSave Up To 90%. Designer Brands. No Gimmicks, Just Great Deals.

It is not a wise idea to purchase perfume just because the bottle is pretty. Unless you truly do not care what is inside the bottle and you only want the bottle, you really should take a few moments to test out what's inside. You may find that the perfume inside your gorgeous bottle smells absolutely atrocious or that it does not suit your personality at all.
Women's PerfumeShop & compare prices. Get rebates for shopping on Shop & compare prices. Get rebates for shopping on Jellyfish.com

Finally, if you decide to purchase perfumes online you should email the company to send you a variety of samples before you make your purchases. Again, a website can tell you absolutely nothing about what a perfume smells like. Just because the advertisement says that the perfume has a lovely musk scent, it doesn't mean that you will think the scent is lovely when you receive your package. Therefore, unless you are familiar with a perfume product, refrain from shopping for perfumes online until you have had an opportunity to sample the product.

Perfume Tips & Tricks

Fragrances can often reflect our mood and personality. A certain scent on a good friend may smell quite differently on you as each fragrance reacts differently according to our own chemical makeup.

When testing a perfume in a store, be sure to wait about 10 minutes to allow the fragrance to react to your body chemistry before buying it. Smell it after the first application and then smell it again after waiting. This allow you to sample both the top and middle notes of the scent and give you a good sense of how the fragrance will linger throughout the day. Be sure to limit how many fragrances you try at one time at the store - stick to just 3 or 4 at a time. Otherwise your olfactory senses may become overwhelmed and you may not be able to tell one perfume from the other!
Women's PerfumeShop & compare prices. Get rebates for shopping on Shop & compare prices. Get rebates for shopping on Jellyfish.com

If you are concerned about an allergic reaction, wait about an hour or so after sampling the perfume. If no reaction occurs by that time, it is probably safe to go ahead and splurge on that new perfume!

Always apply fragrances directly to your skin or hair, as some fragrances (especially parfums and eau de parfums which have a higher concentration of oils) may cause discoloration on certain fabrics. Never spray fragrances directly on silk - it will damage it!

If you like to spritz a bit on your clothing, be sure to test it first on hidden area such as an inner lining before spraying it all over yourself! This is especially true for delicate fabrics and "dry clean only" clothing.
Buy Perfume & Cologne Designer Fragrances at Great Prices.

I suggest changing your fragrance depending upon the season. In other words, go for lighter scents during the hotter weather and keep the stronger scents for the drier, cool weather. Heat intensifies the scent, so there is no need to douse yourself in a heavy scent during the summer. And if you are outdoors, be aware that bees, wasps, hornets, and other flying bugs are attracted to flowery fragrances (which is another good reason to stick to light, clean scents!)

Speaking of heat, if you want to keep that favorite perfume as fresh as the day you bought it, keep the bottle in a cool, dark place. Keep the bottle in it's original box, if possible. You may even want to keep it in the fridge, so you can have a refreshingly cool spritz of your perfume before heading out for the day!

How to Choose a Perfume?

There is not an ultimate advice because everyone interprets odors in their own way, and the same fragrance can smell totally different considering type of skin, hair color, temperament and even the season of a year. There are important nuances if you do not want to seem vulgar or lacking of taste. First, when you choose a perfume, do not account on anybody except yourself. When you breathe in the scent, imagine yourself in it, wear it, like an unseen dress, and look at. Does it fit you? After some training, you will learn which of them best suits you.
Perfume Free Shipping over $75, Free Gift Packaging & Free Samples at Sephora

Second, do not buy cheap perfumes in occidental places.

Third, when using perfumes it is important to take to account the season, the clothes and the place where you are planning to go. It is known that day perfumes are subtler and more transparent than evening perfumes which are considered as darker and richer in their aroma and mysteriousness.
- www.BigDiscount.comGenuine Fragrances at Huge Discounts. 100% Genuine - Free Sample

At work at the office or just on a walk, it is better to use day perfumes; they are softer and lighter. In the evening, going to the theatre, it is essential to emphasize the luxury. When you are preparing to a date, avoid using perfumes that include lavender, wood, cumarine and bergamot. Your secret goal is to temptate your man, to shock his senses, to give him a hope, not to demonstrate proud independence and unavailability.

There is an advice of an old Russian perfumer who had worked for many years for CHANEL: "At night, use perfumes with fruity scents- they evoke the taste (flavor) sense. These odors turn a woman from a flower to a lustful fruit that promises pleasure".

In winter, cypress perfumes are recommended. Their heavy, sharp woody notes emphasize the luxury of furs and give a feeling of internal heat. By the way, in 1948 Rochas introduced a special winter perfume to use on furs only.
Buy Perfume & Cologne Designer Fragrances at Great Prices.

In summer, it is recommended to use sweet-honey and flowery perfumes. They make woman feel like a blossoming fresh flower. Never exaggerate with perfumes. Psychologists have proved that our sense of smell stop reacting to odors we are used to, but people around us feel them very well. So it is not recommended to exaggerate if you do not want to become an object of irritation.

"Carmen. I want every woman to be mysterious and ardent. I have this urge to be alive. To be somebody. I'm a gypsy by nature. I am Carmen." (from a conversation with Sophia Grosjman, one of outstanding perfumers in the world).

This answer was expected from Sophia Grosjman, one of the most brilliant and famous contemporary perfumers in the world. She has worked on blockbuster fragrances like Eternity, Tresor, Jaipure, Kashaya and Paris.Born in Belarus over fifty years ago, she has always had a passion for flowers and scents. Very soon she immigrated to the USA and started to work at IFF as a laboratory technician. Each time she created a new perfume, she experimented it on her husband. Tips for Sampling and Choosing Perfume

Tip 1:

Perfume never has the exactly same fragrance on different people. Don't choose a perfume just because you like the fragrance on someone else. Perfume will interact differently with each individual's body chemistry.

Tip 2:

Fragrance is a combination of the perfume's scent and your body's chemistry. Don't try to tell what a perfume is like by sniffing the bottle. Apply the perfume to your wrist and allow the fragrance to develop, and blend with your skins unique features, before testing. Allow up to 10 minutes for fragrance development after applying the perfume sample.

Tip 3:

Limiting sampling to 3 or 4 perfumes at a time will avoid confusing and overwhelming your sense of smell. Sniffing coffee beans between samples can help clear and refresh your sense of smell.

Tip 4:

When sampling consider developing a perfume wardrobe. A perfume wardrobe is like a clothing wardrobe, with perfumes for different seasons, occasions, and moods. A perfume for each of, casual, evening and romantic wear will cover most requirements.

Tip 5:

It is perfume oils that give perfumes their fragrance. Check the category of the perfume when selecting your perfume. The higher the concentration of perfume oil the longer the perfume will last.

Perfume Category Typical Perfume Oil Content

After Shave 0.5% - 2.0% Eau de Cologne 3.0% - 5.0% Eau de Toilette 5.0% - 8.0% Eau de Parfum 8.0% - 15.0% Parfum 15.0% - 30.0%

How to Buy Perfume

Shopping for perfumes or personal fragrances can be a daunting task, particularly if it's for a friend or lover. Obviously online at Myshopping.com.au you cannot compare the actual scent of different fragrances. But, once you have a fairly good idea of what you are looking for, you can compare the different offerings from different brands and vendors very easily. So, how do you know what you are looking for? The following simple steps will narrow the search down somewhat. The fragrance must suit the personality

The essential oils of a perfume react differently with each different person. Some perfumes are more suited to some personalities than others, and some perfumes are gregarious, others are more reserved. Your choice needs to suit the wearer's attitude as well as demeanour, as well as reflect the status of your relationship with the wearer. For example, you wouldn't buy the same fragrance for your mother as you would for a recently acquired girlfriend.

There are six different categories of scent that express different moods. If you know the favourite brand of the person you are buying for, a scent in the same family, or one in a complimentary family will be a reasonably safe purchase.

Seasons and Strengths

The choice of fragrance that one wears is often affected by season and event. Summer calls for cooler lighter fragrances, whereas winter might suggest more intimate and warmer aromas. Spring is the return of freshness, and autumn is a period of subtlety.

Daywear and a choice for everyday work calls for a different perfume to an evening out. An intimate dinner might suggest a different aroma to a family get-together. When you are buying perfume for someone, consider when he or she might wear your choice.

The other consideration is the relative strengths of the essential oils, and the amount they are diluted. There are four different categories according to the strength of the oils.
#
# Eau de parfum is the strongest concentration and typically contains 15 - 22 percent essential oils.
# Eau de toilette has a typical concentration of 8 to 15 percent essential oils.
# Eau de cologne (or Cologne) has a concentration of 4 to 8 percent of essential oils.
Eau fraiche is the most diluted of scent with just 1 to 3 percent concentration of essential oils.

The degree of concentration often suggests the size of the bottle and its price point. A larger portion will cost less per millilitre, but even small quantities of popular choices can cost a lot of money. This is where making comparisons with Myshopping.com.au can really pay off. The standard fragrance size bottles are usually in the 50ml, 75ml, 100ml or 125ml range. You can buy what is commonly known as a trial size, and this is a good choice if you are experimenting with new fragrances or just want a choice for travelling. These are usually 25ml to 40ml. Finally, a collector's size that is commonly known as a miniature bottle might be 7ml or 10ml

Trials and Testing

It is common practice when buying a perfume is to visit the fragrance counter and spray different scents on different parts of your body so you can compare them. We suggest you avoid this because after two or three applications your olfactory responses (that's your smell and taste senses) can easily be confused and your brain will be remembering and blending previous sniffs rather than sampling new ones. Secondly, how are you going to remember which you sprayed where. If you are going live shopping, we suggest you do something more like this.

Use fragrance blotters to gather your samples of different scents. These are small porous cards and are usually available at the perfume counter. Once you've sprayed the card you can write the name of the fragrance on the reverse side, that way you can identify the fragrance when you need to, and you can more readily compare the different aromas.

All fragrances take a few minutes to develop once they've been exposed to the atmosphere. Allow a few little time after it's been applied before sniffing the fragrance. To overcome nose fatigue (confusion of the olfactory), leave the smelling alone for a while and take in some fresh air, or smell something that carries your own body odour (armpit of your shirt sleeve for example). Sometimes eating a mint can refresh your olfactory senses.

Try to narrow your selection to two or three fragrances and then spray some on your skin, making a point to remember what you sprayed where. Now you need to go and do something else. You need to remove yourself from the perfumery (too many other smells in the air) and take your mind off the fragrance shopping altogether.

Let ten or fifteen minutes go by and then smell those parts of your skin that you sprayed. Let your gut reaction tell you which is the most effective, relative to the reason you are buying the fragrance. Then go to Myshopping.com.au and find that fragrance and compare prices and vendors.

Andrew Gates for comparison online shopping service MyShopping.com.au. MyShopping.com.au helps you compare the different perfume offers from different brands in terms of specifications and accessories. You can also compare prices from hundreds of different brands and vendors.

How To Easily Choose The Right Perfume For Your Lady

Choosing the right perfume can be difficult and because it is also considered an intimate gift buying the wrong perfume can backfire on you and get you the opposite result of that which you hoped for.

The first thing you need to do is do some homework, meaning research. Look at your lady's perfume bottles, the ones that are nearly empty will be her favorites. If there is one there that is nearly full chances are she doesn't wear it often or doesn't like it. Hint around and ask her what types of fragrances she likes and dislikes. Humans are very sensory oriented and our sense of smell is no different. Certain perfumes can elicit strong reactions in both the wearer and the person reacting to the scent. Perfumes are made not only to attract but to also relax someone. If you aren't totally sure what kind of perfume to buy you can always play it safe and get something in the aromatherapy line. If you go this route, bear in mind that vanilla scents are considered to relax and a peppermint or lemon scent will be more stimulating.

Other than the snooping I already mentioned, if you are buying the gift for a special occasion such as Christmas or Valentines Day you can be a little more upfront about asking than if you were just trying to surprise her. Take a look at her wish list, if she has perfume on the list ask her what types she likes. As soon as you can go write it down so you don't forget, you know how we men are.

You should be very sure of your selection when you buy the perfume for your lady so make sure you have done your research so that you don't end up upsetting her instead of thrilling her. Remember, this is just like buying lingerie it isn't about what you like it is about what she likes! She is the one that will be wearing it to school or work and therefore it's for her not you. But, if you get it right she will think of you every time someone compliments her on her fragrance and that my friend, is priceless.

Egyptian Handmade Perfume Bottles

Blown glass, a very ancient technique, is the oldest among the handicrafts. It is said by some, that ancient Egyptians were the original inventors of glass making techniques. Production of metallurgy and faience helped a great deal in the manufacture of glass afterwards. The earliest Egyptian glass known to us was in the form of small beads and pendants found in sites dating back to the 3rd millennium B.C. At that time glass was made by melting a combination of silica-sand, lime, and soda. The interaction of the heated soda and the hot sand formed a transparent flowing liquid, which was then permitted to cool forming glass. The first glass vessels appeared in Egypt in the middle of the 2nd millennium B.C. These were made by the technique of molding on a core made of mud and sand to form the shape of the vessel's interior. Then the core was submerged into viscous molten glass. Once the vessel was cold, the core had to be scraped out.

At that time, glass was regarded, as an artificial semi-precious stone and it was a costly novelty material, most likely the aristocracy owned no glass workshops since it was a royal monopoly.

The decline of royal power after the end of the New Kingdom put a stop to glass production for a time. Not till the Greco-Roman Period did new Egyptian glass centers arise in the Hellenistic cities of Alexandria and Naucratis.

The revolutionary invention of glass-blowing took place, probably in Syria, during the 1st century BC, though the technique did not reach Alexandria until the latter half of the following century when it was introduced by the Romans. The new discovery widely increased production and glass then ceased to be either a rarity or an upper-class prerogative.

Blown glass vessels were created by sticking a piece of molten glass onto one end of a blowpipe and through the other end introducing pressurized air into the pipe. This was done by mouth blowing. At that stage, the art of transformation into attractive shapes began. It was then cut with a copper wheel and ground with emery powder. After the vessel took its shape, decorations were added by pinching the hot glass, adding handles or other features to it, changing simple straight patterns into more intricate ones. After the coloring and hand painting process was completed, the bottles were put into a furnace with a very high temperature to set the color on the glass so that it is permanent. Afterwards, the bottles needed to be left out to cool. Then they were ready.

Nowadays, blown glass products are still made the same way our ancient ancestors used to make them. No extras are used but the very primitive tools used 7000 years ago and the golden fingers of the Egyptian craftsmen.
